potato fritters
Ingredients
potato - 1 cup, thin oval slices
gram flour/besan - 1 cup
turmeric - one fourth teaspoon
red chili powder - 1 tablespoon or as desired
carom seeds/owa - 1 teaspoon
salt to taste
water enough for batter
vegetable oil enough for deep frying
Recipe
1. In a mixing bowl, add turmeric, salt, red chili powder, carom seeds and 1 tablespoon hot vegetable oil to gram flour/besan. Also add water to make batter similar to pancake/dosa consistency.
2. Heat vegetable oil in a wok. Dip each slice of potato into the batter, coat thoroughly and slip in hot oil. Deep fry until golden brown. The bhajis will puff-up while frying. Remove using slotted spoon and drain on kitchen paper. Serve hot with ketchup.
