cauliflower subji
Ingredients
cauliflower - 2 cups, florets
onion - one half cup chopped
green chillies - 2 medium sized, chopped
tomato - one half cup , puree
green peas- one forth cup, fresh or frozen
vegetable oil - 1-2 tablespoons
mustard seeds - one half teaspoon
turmeric - a pinch
sugar - one half tablespoon
red chili powder - one teaspoon
water enough to cook cauliflower
salt to taste
cilantro to garnish
Recipe
1. Heat vegetable oil in a sauce pan, add mustard seeds. When mustard seeds starts popping out, add turmeric, chopped onion, green chillies and saute for 2-3 minutes.
2. Add cauliflower florets and water (enough for cooking cauliflower). Cover and cook until tender and then add tomato puree , red chili powder, sugar and salt. Cook for another 3-4 minutes. When almost done, add green peas and cook for a couple of minutes more. Garnish with cilantro and serve with
roti/chapati or with
jeera fried rice.
