
chicken curry
Ingredients
chicken breasts or legs - 3-4, cut into pieces
butter - 2-3 tablespoons
onion - one half cup , chopped
ginger - 1 teaspoon, grated
garlic - 4 -5 cloves, chopped
ginger-garlic paste - one half tablespoon
tomato paste - one half cup
garam masala - 1 tablespoon
red chili powder - 1 teaspoon
bay leaves - 2-3
chicken curry powder - 1 -2 tablespoons
yogurt - 1/2 cup
coconut milk - 1/4 cup
turmeric - one teaspoon
salt to taste
Recipe
1. Marinade chicken with one fourth cup yogurt, turmeric, ginger-garlic paste, red chili powder and salt for 15 -20 minutes.
2. Make a smooth paste of onion, ginger and garlic cloves.
2. In a sauce pan, melt butter over medium heat , add bay leaves and onion paste. Saute for 4-5 minutes or until onions turn light brown. Add tomato paste, garam masala , remaining yogurt, chicken curry powder. Stir well and cook for 4-5 minutes.
3. Add chicken pieces , salt and coconut milk, bring it to boil and simmer for 15-20 minutes or until the chicken is tender, stirring occasionally.
