coconut chutney for dosa/idli
Ingredients
fresh coconut - 1 cup, grated
split chickpeas (harbhara daal / chana daal) - one fourth cup, roasted with a little bit of oil
green chillies - 3-4
red chillies (whole) - 2-3
ginger - one eighth tablespoon, grated
mustard seeds - one teaspoon
curry leaves - 6-7
vegetable oil - 1 tablespoon
salt to taste
lemon juice - one half tablespoon(optional)
Recipe
1. Roast split chickpeas (harbhara daal/ chana daal) with a little bit of oil till golden brown.
2. Grind fresh grated coconut, roasted chickpeas, green chillies along with grated ginger adding enough water and make a smooth paste.
3. Heat vegetable oil in a small saute pan, add mustard seeds. When mustard seeds crackles, add whole red chillies and curry leaves. Shake the pan and remove from heat.
4. Add lemon juice (optional), salt to the paste and mix well. Pour seasoned vegetable oil on top of it and serve with dosa/idli.
