 Ingredients
 
boiled (steamed) rice - one and half cups
vegetable oil - 2 tablespoons
cumin seeds - one half tablespoon
green chillies - 2 small, finely chopped
red chillies (whole) - 2 small (optional)
curry leaves - 6/7
plain yogurt - 1 cup
milk - one forth cup
sugar - 1 tablespoon
salt to taste
cilantro to garnish
 
 
Recipe
 
 
1. Place boiled or steamed rice ( preferably cold) in a bowl.

2. Heat vegetable oil in a small frying pan and add cumin seeds. When the cumin seeds starts popping , add green chillies, red chillies, curry leaves and saute for a minute.  Turn off the heat and let the contents of the fry pan cool down for a while.

3. Add plain yogurt, milk, sugar and salt to the rice,  and then add the contents you have sauteed in the frying pan.  Mix well and garnish with cilantro.
 

Tip
 
Add yogurt and milk  to the rice just before serving. 

My mom makes this dish with left over rice and let me tell you, it tastes as delicious as with the freshly cooked one.
