Ingredients
steamed rice - 2 cups, preferably cold
onion - one half cup, chopped
green chillies - 2-3, finely chopped
curry leaves - 5-6
roasted groundnuts - no measure , add as much you like
vegetable oil- 1 tablespoon
mustard seeds - 1 teaspoon
turmeric - one half teaspoon
asafoetida - a pinch
red chili powder - one forth teaspoon (optional)
sugar - 1 teaspoon
salt to taste
cilantro to garnish
Recipe
Heat vegetable oil in a saute pan, add mustard seeds. When the mustard seeds start popping , add asafoetida, turmeric, curry leaves, finely chopped onion and green chillies.
Saute for 3-4 minutes, add
steamed rice , sugar, salt , roasted groundnuts and red chili powder (optional). Saute for 3-4 minutes and serve. Garnish with cilantro.
Tip
This dish is mainly prepared with left over steamed rice.
