fodanichi poli

a typical Maharashtrian snack made with leftover rotis

Ingredients

roti/poli/chapati - 4 medium sized

onion - 1 cup, chopped

green chillies - 2

vegetable oil - 2 tablespoons

mustard seeds - 1 teaspoon

asafoetida - 1/2 teaspoon

turmaric - 1 teaspoon

curry leaves - 10 - 12

roasted peanuts - 1/4th cup or as desired

sugar - 1 tablespoon

Maharashtrian goda masala - 1 tablespoon

red chili powder - 1 tablespoon

salt to taste

cilantro to garnish

Recipe

1. Crush chapatis/rotis using mixer/grinder. For this dish, we need crushed chapaties and not the powdered chapaties.

2. Heat vegetable oil in a saute pan, add mustard seeds and let them crackle. Then add asafoetida, turmaric, curry leaves, green chillies and chopped onion. Saute for a couple of miutets.

3. Add roasted peanuts and saute for another minute. Add crushed chapatis/rotis, Maharashtrian goda masala, red chili powder, salt, sugar and mix well. Sprinkle a little bit of water to moist the chapatis/rotis and saute for 4-5 minutes. Garnish with cilantro and serve with yogurt/buttermilk.
