Jeera fried rice
(cumin seeds fried rice)

Ingredients

Rice (White) - 1 cup
Water - one and 3/4th cups (14 oz)
Veg. oil - 2 Tablespoons
Cumin seeds ( Jeera) - one half Tablespoon
Green chillies - 2 -3 finely chopped
Salt to taste
Sugar- one half Tablespoon
Cilantro to garnish

Recipe

1. Wash and soak rice as per the method given in steamed rice. If you are using pre-washed rice, you can directly jump on to the soaking part.

2. Heat veg. oil in a nonstick cookware over moderate heat.

3. Add cumin seeds (Jeera) to it. When the cumin seeds pops out, add finely chopped green chillies. Fry for a  while and then add washed and soaked rice (only rice and not the water).

4. Add sugar and salt to taste. Stir occasionaly to avoid breakage of rice grain, and remove the pan from heat.

5. Now, there are two different ways you can cook the rice.

I. If you are planning to cook rice in the same cookware in which you have fried the rice, just add water and cook.

II.There is one more easy way out for this. When you are done with the frying part, put the fried rice in to the rice cooker , add measured water and let it cook.

6. Garnish with cilantro. Serve hot with Daal (Yellow lentil soup).
