sheera
(sweet coarse semolina dish)
Ingredients
coarse semolina - 1 cup
ghee/clarified butter - 1 cup
granulated sugar (white) - 1 cup
milk - 2 cups (or 1 cup milk and 1 cup water )
banana - 1, sliced
cardamom powder - one half teaspoon
raisins - 2 tablespoons
Recipe
1 Heat ghee/clarified butter, fry sliced banana for a couple of minutes and then keep aside. Add semolina into the ghee/clarified butter and roast constantly till the color changes to light brown.
2. Add hot milk and stir continuously to avoid lumps. When the milk is totally absorbed by semolina, add fried banana slices , sugar and cardamom powder . Stir well and cook it covered for 5-6 minutes. When almost done , add raisins.
Tip
If you add banana slices without frying, they may turn black. So it is advised to use fried banana.
