(coarse semolina dish)
Ingredients
semolina coarse - 1 cup
vegetable oil - 2 tablespoons
cumin seeds - 1 teaspoon
curry leaves - 5-6
*urad daal/ split black gram - one half tablespoon
onion - 1 cup, chopped
green chillies - 3 , chopped
hot water - 2 cups
tomato - one half cup, chopped
sugar - one half tablespoon
salt t0 taste
lemon juice - 1 teaspoon
cilantro and dried/fresh grated coconut to garnish
Recipe
1. Dry roast semolina in a saucepan over low heat for 6-7 minutes stirring constantly. Turn off the heat when the color changes to light brown and set aside.
2 Heat vegetable oil in the same saucepan over moderate heat. Add cumin seeds , curry leaves, onion, green chillies and urad daal. Saute for a couple of minutes, then add hot water, tomatoes, sugar, lemon juice and salt. Stir well and let it boil for 2-3 minutes. Add roasted semolina and stir continuously to avoid lumps. Cover and cook for 5-6 minutes.
3.Garnish with cilantro and grated dried/fresh coconut along with pickles.
